Mike Flachbart
Mike is a great example of how hard work and determination pays big dividends. He began his career at Avon Lake High School as a runner and was recognized as All SWC and All Ohio in the 4 x 800 meter race. His abilities in track led to his Lorain County Decathlon championship plus a scholarship to the University of Akron in 1984. At Akron, Mike’s versatility exploded as he competed in numerous individual races, anchored the 4 x 400 team and competed in the long, high and triple jumps plus the javelin throw. He was Akron’s highest scorer for two years. Complimenting his accomplishments at the high school and collegiate levels, Mike Earned a position on the US World Team in bobsledding. His accolades include 5 time U.S. and World Team member, second in the world in the 2 man bobsledding championships and U.S. Olympic Team member.
