An outstanding athlete, Marla excelled in both volleyball and track. The Shoregal was named to the Lorain County All-Star team as well as scholar athlete in 1992. A dominating runner, Marla was a three time SWC First Team and four time All-Lorain County selection. As an individual Marla won multiple championships in the 100, 200, & 400 dash at both the conference and county levels while also leading Shoregal relay teams to the same successes. She achieved All-Ohio recognition in both the 400 meter dash and as a member of the 4x400 relay team. Both times are still school records.
